Our Services
We assess all psychological functions in the following disciplines, and we offer mediation services to reduce the cost and time involved in litigation:
Clinical Psychology:
Clinical psychology is an integration of science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of identifying, understanding, preventing, and relieving psychologically based distress or dysfunction. Clients are usually referred because of difficulty to function in their social, academic or occupational environments.
Neuropsychology:
Neuropsychology is concerned with how the brain and the rest of the nervous system influence a person’s thinking and behaviors. Professionals in this branch of psychology often focus on how injuries or illnesses of the brain affect mental functions and behaviors.
Forensic Psychology:
Although not recognized as a separate specialty in South Africa, it involves all disciplines of psychology with application of psychological knowledge and methods to both civil and criminal legal questions.
Because forensic psychology is so heavily intertwined with the legal field, it requires an understanding of fundamental legal principles, such as those regarding standard legal practices and standards used by legal professionals, expert witness testimony, competence and insanity definitions and evaluations, and so on to be able to communicate effectively with judges, attorneys, and other legal professionals.
Psychometrics:
Psychometrics is concerned with the theory and technique of psychological measurement; psychometrics refers to psychological measurement. Generally, it refers to the field in psychology and education that is devoted to testing, measurement, assessment, and related activities.
The field is concerned with the objective measurement of skills and knowledge, abilities, attitudes, personality traits, and educational achievement.
Mediation:
Is the process by which a mediator assists parties involved in a dispute to resolve the dispute by facilitating discussions between the parties, assisting them to identify issues, clarify priorities, exploring areas of resolution and assisting them to generate options to resolve the dispute without going to court. It is quicker and much cheaper than litigation.
Mediation is a voluntary process where both parties agree to attend a free pre-mediation session where the mediation process is explained. A typical dispute is resolved within one day and the agreement only becomes binding upon both parties signing the agreement. In the rare instances where mediation is not successful the parties still have the option to litigate and no disclosures during the mediation can be used during litigation.
We have a certified mediator on our team.
Assessment Information
Claimants need to report punctually at either 09H00 mornings or at 12H00(noon) for an assessment
The interview and psychometric assessment takes approximately 4 hours; hence it is advisable to inform claimants to ensure they have breakfast and/or a snack prior to arriving since hunger leads to a reduction in blood sugar levels and can negatively affect performance.
Hospital, medical expert, and school reports need to arrive at our premises at least four days prior to assessment.
For school children and students, it is important to supply both pre- and postmorbid academic records.
Collateral information will be obtained from teachers, family, and employers to substantiate claimants’ complaints.
Reports
Assessment reports will be delivered to you (if you refer yourself) or to your attorney within 10 days of the assessment.
All our directors and associates are registered in one or more psychological disciplines at the organizations listed below
